Impromptu day at the beach

Yesterday, the kids and I picked up Steve from Brussels airport after his 8-day trip to Singapore and India. It was a beautiful 25 degree day (that’s “HOT” in Fahrenheit) so we headed straight to the beach which explains why the kids have no swim suits. The tide was low leaving small pools of really warm water for the kids to run through. They spent a good hour frolicking before the tide came in with a vengeance. I’ve never seen a tide move like that, pretty incredible!

Steve and I were happy to see that there were surfers and they were catching pretty good rides. The waves were small (just my kind) but seem to provide plenty of fun. We hope to check it out sometime this summer in Knokke where we hear they have board rentals and hopefully wet suits too. The water was actually pretty warm but still would be more comfortable with at least a spring suit. We can’t wait to surf the North Sea!!!

I also have to mention how AWESOME my niece, Cynthia, is. She woke up at midnight with Alexander, put him back to sleep and got up with him in the morning too! I got the best, longest night sleep in many, many, many months. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  1. How great!!!!! Everyone looks like they are having so much fun. Glad Steve could be out there with you. Yes, sounds like Cynthia made a hit alright. She is a sweet young lady anyway. Hope she mentioned her and her mother's trip across the U.S. with us. I know it can't compare but we enjoyed the time spent with her. Did they have fireworks over there?
Love the pictures, miss you guys
