Surprise party...

My friends threw me a surprise party last night on my birthday eve.  I was very surprised and deeply touched.  In such a short time we have made incredible friends, I am so blessed.  Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes and cards!  Here's to my 35th year:)

Vacation in the Ardennes

We just got back from a 4-night vacation in the Ardennes, no phone, no computer, no Victaulic:)  We rented a cottage in Hampteau right between Durbuy and La Roche with a yard for the kids, a bbq for us, and trails into the forest right out our front door.  We experienced one of the fiercest most frightening storms I've ever seen (even Steve was a little spooked) but we all survived.  We had a very relaxing time mixed with many adventures for the kids.

I forgot to take a picture, but this plaque is on what is left of a tank.  La Roche was devasted during the battle of the bulge.

Pukkelpop

Tragedy struck yesterday at pukkelpop, an outdoor music festival with Foo fighters, Eminem, and the Offspring as headliners. It sounds like it may have been a micro burst or something like it. The weather was sunny and warm and out of no where this crazy storm struck.  Our friends were there and fortunately were in a tent that did not collapse but are shaken up none-the-less.

So sad...

Bbq in the country...

Our friends, Robyn and Gino, invited us to a bbq at their house in the country. They are restoring an 1800's farm house in an incredibly beautiful country side. Their immediate neighbors on either side are cows and they own sheep as well. It was a very memorable evening with live accordion music, awesome food (Gino bbq'd awesome meat and the neighbors brought all of the side dishes and desserts), and a bon fire in the pasture to top the evening off.

First arrived in "the country"

kids mooing at the cows

The cows lined up at the fence when we started bbqing, made eating the steak a little uncomfortable:(
